Trainings: How it works

At our padel club, we strive to ensure fair and transparent access to training sessions. To achieve this, we use a ranking system to prioritize registrations based on several criteria.

In short, this is what gets you a slot:

  • register early
  • if you cant make it, cancel early
  • add yourself to the waitlist even if the session is full, you might get lucky

Current regulations:

  • Registration confirmations are sent 96 hours prior training session.
  • Cancellation penalty period starts 48 hours prior training session.
  • Slots for Non-Members: Currently, 2 slots are reserved.

If you would like to know the details, here's how it works:

How Registrations Are Ranked

When players register for a training session, their registration is sorted based on the following criteria, applied in order:

  1. Confirmed Registrations / Registrations Made Before the Freeze Period
  • Registrations submitted before the freeze period (a set time before the training session date) are given priority.
  • This ensures fairness in cases where our system may have been down and registrations could not be confirmed automatically.
  1. Manual Priority
  • Club administrators can assign manual priority to participants.
  • This feature is used sparingly and only to address special cases.
  1. Member Priority
  • Per Training two slots are reserved exclusively for non-members to encourage wider participation.
  • After these slots are filled, remaining non-members are added to the list after all members.
  1. Last Played Date
  • Players who haven't attended training recently will be prioritized over those who have.
  • If neither player has attended training before, both are considered equally under this criterion.
  1. Time of Registration
  • When all other factors are equal, registrations are ranked by who registered first. Earlier registrations take precedence over later ones.

Special Considerations

  • Confirmed Registrations: Players who have already been confirmed for a session are not affected by the ranking process. Their slots are secured. When the freeze period begins, the players are marked as confirmed.

  • Dynamic Updates: As registrations come in and priorities are updated, the system dynamically adjusts the ranking to reflect the latest status. The waitlist stays open even after the begin of the freeze period. If a confirmed player cancels, the next person on the waitlist will take the slot. You will receive an email notification if your status changes.

Cancellation Policy

Last-minute cancellations for confirmed slots can disrupt session planning and prevent other players from participating. By applying penalties during the freeze period, we aim to encourage commitment to training sessions and ensure fair access for all players by reducing no-shows. Below is an explanation of how it works:

  • If a registration has already been confirmed and a player cancels during the cancellation penalty period, a penalty is applied to the player's training priority. This reduces their priority for future training registrations.
  • Cancellations made in advance, i.e before the cancellation penalty period starts, will not incur a penalty.

Transparency in Rankings

Our ranking system is designed to be fair and consistent, ensuring that every participant has an opportunity to join training sessions based on clear and logical rules.
